ABOUT SECOND COAT WEB DESIGN

Clear customer experience. Serious technical capability.

Second Coat combines the parts of a business people see with the systems they depend on behind the scenes. Scott Cornfoot leads brand, words, structure and customer experience. Aaryn Biro leads engineering, infrastructure, integrations and software.

THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WORK

Different toolboxes. Same standard.

Most projects lean toward one side. Some are stronger because both capabilities stay connected. Either way, the person named in the scope stays responsible for the work.

Scott Cornfoot

B.A. · University of Waterloo · M.S.Ed. · Medaille College, Buffalo · Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) · NCCP Level 3 Certified Coach

Second Coat's customer-facing work brings together positioning, words, structure, visual direction and the experience someone has when they first encounter a business online. Scott leads that work. The goal is to make the business look credible, current and worth choosing.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Science in Education from Medaille College in Buffalo, New York. He holds a valid Ontario College of Teachers certificate and works full time as a Grade 2 teacher in Mississauga. A career spent teaching has made clear communication a fairly non-negotiable habit: understand what someone needs to know, remove what's getting in the way and explain it without making them work for it.

There's another side to the résumé. Scott is an NCCP Level 3 certified figure skating coach and has coached skaters to six podium finishes at the Canadian National Figure Skating Championships: one gold, four silver and one bronze. He has also coached internationally, including at the World Junior Figure Skating Championships and several international Grand Prix events. Before coaching, he competed at five Canadian Figure Skating Championships in pairs and performed professionally with Disney On Ice, including the lead role of Hades in Hercules on Ice.

He also writes and publishes books, builds his own digital projects and restores furniture other people have given up on. Those things share the same approach: figure out what matters, communicate it clearly, pay attention to the details and make the finished thing better than the thing you started with.

That's the thinking behind Second Coat.

PRINCIPAL ENGINEER + LONDON LEAD

Aaryn Biro

Bachelor of Engineering Science (BESc) in Software Engineering · Western University · 2020

Second Coat's engineering capability covers the problems customers may never see but a business feels every day: systems, data, integrations, infrastructure and software. Aaryn leads that work from central London. He has worked professionally as a full-stack and software engineer with realxdata GmbH, Neurolign Technologies and Snappy, building and maintaining production web applications, backend systems and customer-facing product features.

He is also Founder and Principal Engineer of PixelEnhance Labs and Xcelsior. His work spans backend architecture, cloud infrastructure, AI media-processing systems, distributed GPU workloads, payments, APIs, databases, deployment, observability and the developer tooling required to keep complex systems operating.

At Second Coat, Aaryn takes technical ownership when the problem goes beyond a conventional website: workflow automation, system integrations, internal tools, custom software, backend systems and difficult technical problems that need an engineer to work out the real requirement before building anything.

He has been based in London since moving there for Western in 2014, apart from a period working on site in Berlin. He can meet London clients in person, gather requirements, explain technical decisions in plain language and act as the local technical point of contact throughout a project.

Use the right tool. Fix the real problem. Leave the client owning the result.

HOW SECOND COAT WORKS

No mystery scope. No unnecessary handoff.

Prices, boundaries and likely timelines are published before a project starts. Domains, accounts and finished work remain in the client's name. If the useful answer is smaller than the service someone first asked about, Second Coat says so.

Website projects can stay focused on the public experience. Engineering projects can solve the operational problem behind it. The two connect only when the work genuinely needs both.
